What: The RIVERS Festival Symposia will explore the physical, economic, political, and cultural forces exerted by rivers through a sequence of conversations and music. Using the Mississippi and the Amazon as case studies, the discussion will highlight the interdependent relationship between music, art and rivers. Panels of historians, artists and engineers will present three conversations, each followed by performances of music finding its origin in rivers.

What: State Rep. Sam Yingling and DeVry University want to help jobseekers in the 62nd District sharpen their skills and prepare to succeed in a competitive job market. Rep. Yingling is working on ways to provide some immediate assistance to the men and women looking for jobs. Career counselors from DeVry will lead group discussions on job search strategies, interview techniques and networking opportunities as well as offer one-on-one resume evaluation. The event is free and open to the public.
