Events: Sundown Towns: Maintaining Whiteness on Chicago’s North Shore

What: Media presentation by Andrew Dolinar, North Shore resident and undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He has worked with James W. Loewen, author of Sundown Towns, documenting similar towns across the United States. There are over 500 Sundown Towns in Illinois alone. An open discussion follows.

Events: Lobby Day in Springfield to Fight for a Fair Economy in Illinois

When: Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Board bus 5:45 am, Return by 6:15 pm

Where: Free bus transportation (with advance reservation) provided by Northside P.O.W.E.R., 7659 N. Paulina St., Chicago

What: Join DIAC, Northside P.O.W.E.R and other organizations to fight for a fair economy in Illinois. Two-thirds of Illinois corporations pay no Illinois corporate income tax. Corporate income taxes contribute only 8% to the total revenues collected by the state. Come visit state legislators to gain their support for the corporate tax transparency bill that will be introduced in the House and for bills being considered to close loopholes.
