Events: Chicago Bar Association Seminar: Thomas Sullivan on the Detainees at Guantanamo

Where: The Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago

What: The Chicago Bar Association (CBA) Human Rights Committee presents Thomas Sullivan, of Jenner and Block, former U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. He will be speaking on the detainees at Guantanamo, his experiences representing one of the detainees, and his thoughts on the hunger strike and prospects for closing the prison.

Events: Producing, Publishng and Writing a Book in the Digital Age

Where: The Stevenson Center on Democracy, 25200 N. St. Mary’s Rd., Mettawa (Libertyville)

What: You are invited to meet two Lake County authors and learn about the struggles and joys of producing, publishing and writing a book in the digital age. Marti Gorun, an editor of the Cook Memorial Library Community Cook Book, A Library of Recipes, and Deborah Rine, author of the mystery novel, The Lake, will have books available for sale and signing. Cash or checks will be necessary for purchasing the books.
