Events: Planned Parenthood Annual Generations Gala

What: The Fourth Annual Generations Gala of Planned Parenthood of Illinois features award-winning journalist Renee Ferguson, honoree Katie Rich and special guest Cecily Strong.

Events: Common Cause Chicago “Setting the World on Fire”

When: Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 5:30 pm

Where: The Chicago Temple, 77 W. Washington, Chicago

What: Common Cause invites you to “Setting the Word on Fire,” with the Hon. Ian Levin and Bob Pavich, who will discuss their lawsuit against BP and Koch Industries for the dumping petcoke (petroleum coke) on the Chicago/Indiana shores of Lake Michigan.

The event is free, but space is limited and you must RSVP to attend.

Events: Wheeling Township Democrats April Meeting

When: Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Doors open 6:30 pm, Program starts 7:00 pm

Where: Township Dems HQ, 1310 W. Northwest Hwy., Arlington Heights

What: The Wheeling Township Dems, with special guest Mark Walsh of Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, will discuss Illinois’ new concealed carry law that allows people to carry loaded handguns in public. In light of the many tragedies involving gun violence, this is a meeting you won’t want to miss.

Events: “Denim Day” Observance

When/Where: Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Your school or organization.

What: On “Denim Day,” a national movement established to combat victim-blaming stereotypes, participants wear jeans for the day and can opt to donate $1-$5 to the ZCenter to support their services to survivors of sexual assault.

Events: Rep. Carol Sente Women’s Self-Defense Class

When: Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm

Where: Buffalo Grove Police Station, 46 Raupp Blvd., Buffalo Grove

What: Rep. Carol Sente and the Buffalo Grove Police Department will provide a free Women’s Self-Defense Class.
