Events: “The Middle East in Turmoil: A Political Economy Analysis” at the Stevenson Center on Democracy

What: The Stevenson Center on Democracy presents Dr. Khairy Tourk, professor of Economics at Illinois Institute of Technology, who will speak on “The Middle East in Turmoil: A Political Economy Analysis.” A long-time observer of the world from within, his present focus is economic modernization in Egypt and the political economies of East Asia.

What: The League of Women Voters of Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth invite you to a forum to address the proposed amendment to the constitution to change the tax system. Professor Therese McGuire, Northwestern University economist, State Senator Daniel Biss and State Representative Robyn Gabel will speak on the topic of a graduated rate income tax (GRIT): “Does Illinois Need a New and Fairer Revenue System?” The forum is free and open to the public.
