A Doctor’s View of Death With Dignity

When: Sunday December 8, 2013 at 2:00 pm

Where: Temple Sholom, 3480 N. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago.

What: A panel of Chicago-area doctors will discuss A Doctor’s View of Death with Dignity. The panelists will consider what a physician should do when palliative care is no longer providing adequate relief and there are no more reasonable treatment options. Current laws in Oregon, Washington, and Vermont allow doctors to prescribe medication that terminally ill patients can use to end their own lives. Should these kinds of laws be passed in Illinois? Should standard medical practice make it legal to help patients end their suffering? The panel features Dr. Jorge delCastillo, of NorthShore University Hospitals, Dr. Dan Fintel, of Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and Dr. Daniel G. Samo, of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. (Organizations provided for identification only.)

Admission is free. For more information, please contact Ed Gogol at 224-565-1500 or Debra Landis at 847-873-2380.
