Tenth Dems University and Common Cause are honored to have a distinguished panel of experts who will draw upon their own work in the criminal justice system to discuss existing problems and offer solutions to these critical issues of wrongful convictions facing our community. Panel members include Rob Warden, Executive Director, Center on Wrongful Convictions, Northwestern School of Law, Rey Lopez-Calderone, Executive Director of Common Cause Illinois; Jed Stone, Criminal Defense Attorney, Stone and Associates; and Chris Kennedy, Former prosecutor and candidate for Lake County State’s Attorney.

The event is free and open to the public and preregistration is preferred. Should the capacity of the room be exceeded, priority will be given to those who have registered.

Tenth Dems, Move to Amend Chicago North Suburbs, Progressive Democrats of America, Common Cause Illinois and Democracy in Action Chicago invite you to Prof. Stone’s discussion of the first amendment and the impact of Citizens United v. FEC (Federal Election Commission) on our democracy and what we can do to change the direction our country is headed.

Want to help register voters for this upcoming election? Training takes 45 minutes, is very easy and convenient, and you need only be a registered voter in the county in which you live. As a registrar, you can then register anywhere in Illinois. This session is for registered voters who live in Lake County.

Another training session in Lake County will take place on Monday, January 23, at 7:00 pm at the Tenth Dems Community Connection, 118 N. Genesee, Waukegan

A training session for registered voters who live in Cook County will take place on Tuesday, January 24, at 7:00 pm at the Northbrook Public Library.
