Would you ever confess to a crime you didn’t commit?  This panel of experts will discuss why people give false confessions, the situations under which false confessions can occur, and the impact false confessions have on our justice system and local communities.  Panelists are: Rob Warden, executive director, Center on Wrongful Convictions, Northwestern School of Law; Jed Stone, criminal defense attorney, Stone and Associates; and Juan Rivera, former inmate convicted on a false confession and recently released due to an appellate court decision reversing his conviction.

The public is welcome.  Sponsored by League of Women Voters of Lake County, Lake Forest College Ethics Center, Lake Forest College Politics Dept., Lake Forest College Legal Studies Program, and AAUW Waukegan Area Branch.
