Democrats from every corner of Lake County (and beyond) gathered in Mundelein on Monday evening to see MSNBC contributor Jill Wine-Banks. Back by popular demand, this year’s keynote speaker fired up the crowd once again.
Also energizing the crowd were distinguished guest and featured speaker Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and surprise guest, former intern Victor Shi – a prominent Gen Z voice and podcast co-host of iGen Politics
with Jill Wine-Banks – who spoke about the importance of electing Joe Biden.

Hey Lake County – Important Dates Coming Up
Primary elections allow you, the voter, to decide who from a pool of candidates should be nominated by your political party to run in the general election. These include local elections that have a HUGE impact on our daily lives.
When it comes down to it, voting in the primaries matters because VOTING MATTERS. We need everyone to register
and everyone to come out during the primaries, and then again on Election Day. So get out there and bring your friends, family, and neighbors. Vote!

Honoring Black History: African American History Museum in Waukegan
Touring the African American Museum at the England Manor in Waukegan is a great way to learn about Black history in Lake County, Illinois.
Sylvia England, founder of the museum, tells her and her ancestors’ stories from their time in Africa through the present day, touching on numerous aspects of the Black experience in America. As an educator, she was moved to open the museum and chose a location that was once part of the Underground Railroad, preserving its important legacy in Lake County.
The museum offers visitors the opportunity to expand upon the limited Black history they are typically taught and allows others to have a voice and tell their stories. Visitors can experience the following:
– Africa and the Slave Trade
– The Underground Railroad
– 40 Acres and a Mule
– The Great Migration
– Contemporary Black America
It’s easy to book a tour online. Admission is just $10 for adults, $5 for children and senior citizens, and children under six are free. It’s a great place for both history enthusiasts and regular folk alike. Click here
to learn more about the museum.

World Day of Social Justice February 20
February 20 marked the World Day of Social Justice. As declared by the United Nations General Assembly, it is an international day recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender inequality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections.
Voting is our most powerful tool for change in pursuing social justice. Lake County Dems remain steadfast in our commitment to elect Democrats at every level of government who will fight to protect our values and improve the lives of ALL Americans.
