What: Rep. Carol Sente will be hosting a community dialogue on education. This is an opportunity for local parents, teachers, administrators, and school board members to come together to discuss education in our community, share ideas for future legislation, identify concerns and review current education bills. She hopes to discuss her recent appointment to the School Security and Standards Task Force established by Senate Bill 1931 (now Public Act 98-0578), ideas for school safety legislation, anti-bullying initiatives, and any recent issues that may be impacting our schools.

What: You are invited to a celebration marking the end of the first class of Basic Bicycle Repair that has enrolled Junior High School students in a 10-week course learning the basics of bike repair, maintenance and safety. The Holy Spokes Bike Ministry of The Chapel has expanded their mission. The volunteer group has been repairing and reconditioning bikes for 10 years. The group reconditions used bikes and gives them away to families in need at Christmas. Taking it a step further, the organization collaborated with the North Chicago Police Department, the Foss Park District and the Exchange Club of North Chicago to run this course.
