The Gabe W. Miller Memorial Foundation 9th Annual Celebration of Life Event

When: Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 6:00 pm

Where: Monastero’s, 3935 W. Devon Avenue, Chicago

What: You are invited to the Gabe W. Miller Memorial Foundation’s 9th Annual Celebration of Life Dinner. Mentalist Sidney Friedman, who performed at the Foundation’s first annual dinner, will return with a new, improved show. Funds raised help provide partial scholarships to Masters in Social Work students and social service agencies.

Move to Amend Greater Chicago North Meeting

When: Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 7:00 pm sharp

Where: Northbrook Public Library, Pollak Room, 1201 Cedar Ln. (corner of Cedar and Cherry), Northbrook

What: Agenda will include discussion of possible actions to take against ALEC, sharing of experiences working on the Listening Tour, ways to pressure the General Assembly, ways to promote Jack Altschuler’s presentation, “Money, Politics, and Democracy” and other initiatives and outreach results.

Moraine Township Democrats Open House Celebrates New Office Location!

When: Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm

Where: 474 Central Ave., 2nd Floor (above Las Palmas), Highland Park

What: Join us for an Eat and Greet: Donuts and hot apple cider will be served during the Grand Opening of the Moraine Township Democratic Organization’s new office in Highland Park. All Democrats are invited as we help kick off our effort to help win crucial local and statewide elections in 2014. Sign petitions to put Democratic candidates on the ballot while you check out the new location to have snacks with friends. Congressman Brad Schneider and State Representative Scott Drury will attend, along with other local Democrats.

Highwood Great Pumpkin Festival Features Pet Costume Contest, Head Shaving, Pumpkin Wall

When: Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm

What: Register for the Pet Costume contest here. Cost is $10. Register for and donate to the St. Baldricks Head Shaving here. The shaving takes place from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. All are invited to participate in lighting the 32,000 pumpkins in the pumpkin wall beginning at 6:45 pm. Fiat pop raffle drawing of the winning ticket takes place at 8:30 pm.

Highwood Great Pumpkin Festival “Light Up the Night” Event and Parade

When: Friday, October 18, 2013 from 4:00 – 10:00 pm

Where: Various locations, Highwood

What: Market vendors with food and drinks, live music, children’s activities. Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Lighting jack-o-lanterns begins at 8:00 pm, followed by a parade at 8:30 pm.
