Chicago Bar Association Seminar: Gun Violence and the Second Amendment

When: Monday, May 13, 2013 from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm

Where: Union League Club, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago

What: The Chicago Bar Association Human Rights Committee and the Union League Club invite you to a Continuing Legal Education Seminar on Gun Violence and the Second Amendment. Keynote Speaker is Illinois Senator Kwame Raoul (D) 13th District, with panelists Douglas Berman, David G. Sigale and Geoffrey R. Stone. Ann M. Lousin is Moderator for the discussion of the scope and impact of the Second Amendment on the issue of gun violence prevention, including the determination of any limitations of Second Amendment Rights.

Discussion of current public-policy initiatives relating to gun control and gun violence will cover state and federal legislative and executive proposals to deal with gun violence to prevent mass shootings and urban gun violence. Panelists for these and related issues are Juliet A. Leftwich, Professor Jens Ludwig, and John Tillman with Moderator, J. Timothy Egan.
