The Jewish National Fund’s 2012 Tree of Life award dinner will honor Major General (Res.) Doron Almog and the Children of Aleh Negev and will feature Master of Ceremonies Paul Reiser. Proceeds will benefit Aleh Negev.
Now Chairman of Aleh Negev, Major General Doron Almog served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from 1969 to 2004. Key landmarks in his army career include commanding the 1976 rescue operation in Entebbe, commanding elite paratroopers during the first Lebanon War, airlifting to Israel more than 6,000 Ethiopian Jews, and heading the Southern Command from 2000 to 2003. The focus of his voluntary activities is Aleh Negev, a residential village for children and young adults with severe cognitive disabilities. The village is named for the General’s son Eran, who was Aleh Negev’s first resident, and who died in February 2007.
