An Afternoon of Reflection and Action at Am Shalom in Glencoe
Date: Sunday, January 8, 2012
Time: 1:30 pm
Location: Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Ave., Glencoe
To mark the one year anniversary of the shooting in Tucson, Arizona, of U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), local groups across the country are holding remembrances. In this gathering, Glencoe’s Chief Public Safety Officer Director Mike Volling will share words of healing and comfort for all victims of violence, words of hope and inspiration.
There will be a screening of The Interrupters, the story of three “violence interrupters” in Chicago who try to protect their communities from the violence they once employes. Discussion follows the film. This event is free and open to the public.
