Date: Friday, July 29, 2011

Time: 10:00 am- 12:00 pm

On July 15, 2011, Metra officials recommended eliminating 31 weekday trains and 18 weekend trains and discussed possible revenue increases, including fare hikes. Based on these recommendations, Senator Sandoval, as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee and Senator Garrett, as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Local Government Committee, decided to hold an official hearing to Review Metra’s Proposed Reduction of Services and Possible Rate Hikes.

By holding this hearing, they hope to explore alternative ways to address Metra’s budget shortfalls before even considering service reductions and fare increases.
