Warren Township Democrats April General Meeting

When: Thursday, April 25 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Where: Bake’s Sports Theme Restaurant, 33251 N. U.S. Highway 45 (just north of Center St./Deerpath Ave.), Wildwood

What: The April meeting has a full agenda: a Thank You Celebration for candidates who ran in 2013; plans for the balance of 2013 and a candidate search for 2014; plans for Gurnee Days; and “Roundtable Politics XII,” where anyone may talk about any political issue they find important. Elk Grove Township Democrats Meet

What: The Elk Grove Township Democrats will feature an Elk Grove Library Board member as speaker. Come learn the importance of the Library Board and how to become involved, and socialize with other local Democrats.

League of Women Voters of Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth Forum: “Does Illinois Need a New and Fairer Revenue System?”

When: Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 3:00 pm

Where: Washburne School Little Theatre, 515 Hibbard, Winnetka

What: The League of Women Voters of Winnetka-Northfield-Kenilworth invite you to a forum to address the proposed amendment to the constitution to change the tax system. Professor Therese McGuire, Northwestern University economist, State Senator Daniel Biss and State Representative Robyn Gabel will speak on the topic of a graduated rate income tax (GRIT): “Does Illinois Need a New and Fairer Revenue System?” The forum is free and open to the public.

Move to Amend Greater Chicago North Meeting

When: Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 7:00 pm sharp

Where: Arlington Heights Memorial Library, Hendrickson Room (2nd floor), 500 N. Dunton, Arlington Heights (at Euclid just west of Arlington Heights Road)

What: The meeting will include a report on Lobby Day efforts in Springfield and discussion about future lobbying activities with the Illinois House of Representatives and local officials. Your input and participation is sought, as the coalition strives to be nonpartisan and believes that court decisions harm every American except the very wealthiest individuals and corporations.

Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee

When: Monday, April 29, 2013. Check-in 12:00 pm, Begins 1:00 pm

Where: The Shoreline Lounge at Sedgebrook, 800 Audubon Way, Lincolnshire

What: A preliminary round of the Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee is being co-sponsored by Sedgebrook, the Association of Senior Centers and the Illinois Department on Aging, with assistance from State Representative Carol Sente. Illinois adults age 50 and over may participate. Two subsequent levels of competition will culminate at the State Finals at the 2013 Illinois State Fair on Senior Day, Monday, August 12. The spelling bee is open to non-residents. A reception will be held after the event.
