Professor Therese McGuire, Northwestern University economist, State Senator Daniel Biss and State Representative Robyn Gabel will speak on the topic of a graduated rate income tax (GRIT): “Does Illinois Need a New and Fairer Revenue System?” The forum is free and open to the public.

What: A preliminary round of the Illinois State Senior Spelling Bee is being co-sponsored by Sedgebrook, the Association of Senior Centers and the Illinois Department on Aging, with assistance from State Representative Carol Sente. Illinois adults age 50 and over may participate. Two subsequent levels of competition will culminate at the State Finals at the 2013 Illinois State Fair on Senior Day, Monday, August 12. The spelling bee is open to non-residents. A reception will be held after the event.
