“Replacing Suzanne “Suzie” Bassi as state representative for the 54th District won’t be easy, but we believe Democrat Matt Flamm better reflects the district and its moderate values than Republican challenger Tom Morrison.
“Flamm calls himself a “Melissa Bean Democrat” who believes that the state should help small businesses to grow with selective tax incentives but shouldn’t be giving those same incentives to larger corporation chains that don’t need them (read Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy).
“He also believes the state should examine broadening its sales tax base, should live up to pension obligations already made but re-examine the agreements for current employees and reject attempts to funnel what few dollars the state has to what he calls “private interests.”
We agree, which is why we are endorsing Matt Flamm.”
