Lake County Board Representative Anne Flanigan Bassi (D-23), candidate for re-election in November, has recently been endorsed by both the Sierra Club and Lake County Farm Bureau.
“It is so gratifying to receive these two endorsements in my re-election campaign,” Bassi said, “because it recognizes my efforts to keep Lake County government at the forefront of protecting, preserving and acquiring open lands for public benefit, and generations to come.”
In her participation as a member of the County’s Stormwater Management Commission, Bassi was able to secure a wetlands mitigation grant of $380,000, contributing to the joint efforts of the Park District of Highland Park and City of Highland Park that resulted in the Skokie River Woods preserve-instead of more development on sensitive land at the corner of Routes 22 and 41.
As a Lake County Forest Preserve Commissioner, Bassi has been an enthusiastic supporter of restoration and public access improvements at the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve. A keen environmentalist, Bassi has for several years also led the annual efforts for local volunteer cleanup at area beaches.
“These key endorsements from the respected Sierra Club and Lake County Farm Bureau are further confirmation of the great asset Anne Bassi’s public service is to our residents,” said Highland Parker Barb Lippai, a campaign manager.
“It’s why we work so hard to be sure she’ll be re-elected in November,” agreed Sulie Holt and Gail Feiger Brown, two more Highland Park leaders of the Bassi for County Board campaign.
