Join or Renew for 2022
We’ve been busy building the Democratic infrastructure at the grassroots level thanks to volunteers and supporters like you. But we’ll all need to come together to do even more with the historical headwinds (the party in the White House traditionally struggles in the midterm election) we Democrats face. It won’t be easy.
And just as we enter this challenging political cycle, we’ll have more and more Democratic seats to defend. Our candidates, whether running for US Senate or County Board, will need your help. Our elected officials who have so worked hard to stand up for our values during this difficult, uncertain time, will be scrutinized, criticized, and attacked–a lot–by people who’d take us backward. We need to be there for them so we can have the right people in office who will be there for all of us.
We’re up for the challenge. There’s too much at stake to sit back and let right-wing extremists take over. Are you up for the moment too?

Volunteer Spotlight
Lake Dems is grateful for our many active volunteers, including the following:
Jose Rivera, a Long Grove Precinct Committeeperson, has become an indispensable member of our leadership team. He co-chairs a working group that has spent countless hours helping us update our Lake Dems brochures and documents. Jose also served as one of our 2020 Election Protection lawyers.

Barbara Altman, a Highland Park Precinct Committeeperson, is a longtime Democratic leader who is involved in multiple aspects of Lake Dems day-to-day management, including voter services, communications, and special projects. Barbara helps manage our critical Election Protection team as well as the round-the-clock Democratic Voter Assistance Hotline.

Dan Matzkin is a Lake Zurich Precinct Committeeperson. A CPA, Dan has been in charge of keeping track of Lake Dems finances and preparing our quarterly and other legally required financial reports. Dan also helped manage our transition to NGP-8, a powerful accounting and volunteer management system.

Thursday, 1/6: Libertyville Township Democrats January Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Libertyville Township Democrats. Masks required. The discussion will include the Pancake Breakfast event and upcoming petitions.
7-8:30pm, Libertyville Civic Center, Room A, 135 W. Church Street, Libertyville.
Sunday, 1/9: Sean Casten Virtual Fundraiser. Congressman Sean Casten will discuss his work on the Financial Services Committee, climate change, and his upcoming campaign. 3pm on Zoom.

In Case You Missed It
Recycle Your Christmas Tree and Unwanted Lights
Don’t send your Christmas tree to the landfill. Donate it to a good cause by dropping it off at one of these eight forest preserves for recycling between Dec. 26 and Feb. 1, 2022. And if you have unwanted strings of holiday lights and extension cords, drop them off at one of these four Solid Waste Agency of Lake County locations.
