Local Democrats Call On Lake County Republicans To Tell Voters If They Support Right-Wing Extremist Marjorie Taylor Greene Raising Campaign Money For Republican Colleague In Illinois

Lake County, IL — The Lake County Democrats (Lake Dems) and the Tenth Congressional District Democrats (Tenth Dems) are calling on Republican elected officials, candidates, and party officials to tell the public if they support right-wing extremist Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) coming to Illinois to raise campaign contributions for another radical right-wing Republican, Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL).
“Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene coming to Illinois to speak at a fundraiser for right-wing Illinois Congresswoman Mary Miller (who praised Hitler earlier this year) certainly does not reflect Democratic or Illinois values, and it’s up to local Republicans to let voters know whether Taylor Greene and Miller reflect their party’s values. Their silence speaks volumes to Lake County voters,” said Lake County Democrats Chair Lauren Beth Gash.
Gash continued: “Local Republicans have still refused to even tell the public whether they agree that Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, so it’s no surprise they’ve remained silent as Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene has been announced as a special guest fundraiser for Illinois Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller. Nevertheless, voters deserve to know whether Lake County Republicans holding office, running for office, or leading the local Republican Party think someone who compares the wearing of masks during a deadly global pandemic to the Holocaust and who pushes dangerous conspiracy theories should be welcomed into Illinois to support Republicans.”
