Election Day is April 6 and you can also vote by mail or take advantage of Early Voting right now. Many local offices, including Township officials, City and Village officials, and board members for Park Districts, Library Districts, and School Districts are on the ballot. Your vote is important, because these offices can really affect people’s lives.
- For a list of Early Voting sites and hours in Lake County, go to Early Voting Sites Listing. Cook County sites can be found at cookcountyclerkil.gov/service/early-voting-locations.
- To request a mail-in ballot, Lake County residents go to LakeVoterPower.info and Cook County residents go to mailvoting.cookcountyclerkil.gov.
- Mail-in ballots can be delivered to Clerks’ offices or placed in the U.S. Mail. Lake County voters also can use drop boxes; there will be one at each Early Voting location. Cook County has placed drop boxes outside several courthouses; go to cookcountyclerkil.gov/service/mail-ballot-drop-box-locations to find one near you.
- If you requested a mail-in ballot, you may still vote in person, but you should bring the ballot with you and surrender it when you check in.
- If you’re not registered to vote, or you’ve moved and need to change your registration, you may still register to vote at the polls, as long as you vote at the same time you register. You’ll need two forms of identification, at least one showing your current address.
Be sure to vote in your local elections. Voting is your civil right – and a civic duty. Please encourage your friends and family, too.
