Biden-Harris Inauguration Night with Tenth Dems, Lake Dems, and Sixth Dems Features Conversation with Three Democratic Members of Congress

January 20, 2021 was a date so many people had circled on their calendars. What a day it was! Joe Biden was sworn in as President. Moments earlier, Kamala Harris made history as the first woman sworn in as Vice President. Thank you to all who joined Tenth Dems, Lake Dems, and Sixth Dems to mark the occasion on Zoom later that evening. In addition, we were thrilled to hear from three Democratic members of Congress representing our area — Congressman Brad Schneider, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, and Congressman Sean Casten. The crowd of over 180 people was able to get an update from the legislators, which was especially significant in the wake of the pro-Trump, violent assault on the US Capitol only two weeks earlier.

Brad, Lauren, and Sean were optimistic about President Biden’s ability to lead the country through such a perilous time and they all looked forward to working with the executive branch to bring about meaningful change for the people in our area and beyond. They also encouraged the audience to stay involved, to not let up just because Democrats did well in 2020. Not only is 2022 right around the corner, but grassroots activism at home will help the Democratic representatives in Washington between campaign seasons.

Since we work to elect and support Democrats at all levels, we couldn’t agree more! Thank you to our Congresspeople for the fascinating discussion – and to all who made it happen on such an important day for the country.
