The Democratic Convention in Lake County on February 25 is an opportunity to hear from Democratic candidates on the March 20 primary election ballot and socialize with fellow Dems.

Tenth Dems turned out for Waukegan’s 16th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dreamers’ Breakfast on January 15. Food for the soul came through rousing speeches and music.

The theme for this year’s Tenth Dems Poetry and Prose Contest is “Courage,” and we hope as many high school students in Waukegan, North Chicago, and Zion as possible summon that trait by submitting original poems, stories, or essays.

It was a night of hilarity as nearly 100 Tenth Dems attended a performance by The Capitol Steps in Skokie in January. After the show, we heard from a couple of the former Capitol Hill staffers turned satirists who accepted our invitation to join us at a nearby restaurant.
