Sierra Club Illinois Clean Power Party

What: Sierra Club Illinois hosts a Clean Power Party to Elect Environmental Champions.  Proceeds support the Sierra Club Illinois PAC.  Ticket purchase includes food and drinks.

Melinda Bush Petition Signature Drive

When: Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9:45am – 2:00pm

Where: Meet at 240 N. Lake St., Grayslake, IL.  Then move to Grayslake Farmers Market, 201 Center St., Grayslake, IL.

What: Collect petition signatures to place State Senator Melinda Bush’s name on the 2016 ballot.

Open Communities Justice Summit

When: Sunday, October 11, 2015.  Registration: 11:30am, program: 12:15 – 5:15pm, reception 5:15 – 6:30pm.

Where: Oakton Community College, 7701 N. Lincoln Ave., Skokie, IL

What: Tenth Dems is proud to be a sponsor of this second phase of the 2015 Justice Project, the Justice Summit.  Teach-in style workshops will be held on the Justice Project’s “Principles of a Welcoming Community,” deciding how best to implement these principles suburb by suburb, ensuring equal access to all who work, visit or seek to live in our communities.  Tenth Dems is a sponsor.

POSTPONED: Lake County Hunger Coalition Poverty Simulation

When: POSTPONED – more information will be provided when a new date is scheduled

Where: To be determined

What: Simulation of what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family, trying to survive from month to month.  “Participants” assume roles of families facing poverty.  “Volunteers” take on a role of a social service to help participants experience what it’s like to live in poverty.
