What: Join Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioners Debra Shore and Kari Steele to learn more about issues affecting water quality in the Chicago Area Waterways such as pharmaceuticals in the water, flooding and stormwater management. Learn about the new Stormwater Ordinance for Cook County. Unlike fossil fuels, there are no substitutes for fresh water. Find out what you can do to conserve this precious liquid asset.

Sen. Melinda Bush Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

When: Saturday, November 2, 2013 from 9:00 am -1:00 pm

Where: Lake County High Schools Technology Campus, 19525 W. Washington St., Grayslake

What: Senator Melinda Bush will host a foreclosure prevention workshop as an initiative of the Illinois Mortgage Relief Project (IMRP), which is a part of the Illinois Foreclosure Prevention Network (IFPN) dedicated to providing information and resources that can help homeowners take advantage of programs to lower their mortgages, avoid foreclosure and keep their homes. IMRP also provides information on legal rights, credit counseling and avoiding scam artists. In addition, homeowners can also take advantage of private, one-on-one housing counseling with HUD-certified counselors during the workshop.

Homeowners interested in attending the event should bring the following documentation in order for IMRP to best serve them:

• Mortgage Statement
• 2010 & 2011 W-2 & tax return with all schedules
• Copy of rental agreement, if necessary
• 2 months of recent pay stubs
• Budget of household expenses
• Documentation of other income
• 2 months of recent bank statements
• Recent Utility Bill
• Profit/Loss, if self-employed (last 6 months)

Warren Township Democrats Road Cleanup in Gurnee

When: Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 10:00 am

Where: The Warren Township Democrats will clean their Adopt-A-Highway section on Stearns School Road in Gurnee. Park at the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation at the corner of Dilley’s Road and Stearns School Road.

What: Safety vests, orange bags, water and drinks will be provided. Bring gloves. You may keep anything you find, for example, money, jewelry, and assorted auto parts. This is the second required cleanup for 2013. Mark your calendar for an event that has been held continuously for 10 years.
